Hello and welcome to Stacey's Random Rant on a Friday.

***Warning don't take this post too seriously.
This first picture has nothing to do with today's post. I accidentally took it at some point and don't know when. I thought it was funny.
Moving on.
The title to today's post sounds ridiculous and it is. I am playing off the whole "Her success is not Your failure." thing which has been circling the internet in various forms and fonts. I 100% believe in that and I am totally for the movement of women finally getting along and getting over themselves.
Which brings me to today's topic.
Instagram.
Below is a screenshot of my Instagram account.
As you can see by my 1,355 pictures I am mildly obsessed with it. I spend a lot of time on it.
My rule for Instagram is:
If I am choosing to follow you I must
- Find you interesting/Inspiring
- You are my friend
- You are my family
Every person I follow, I follow for a reason. I never feel obligated to follow someone back if they follow me. That's stupid. Now, getting to my point.
I like everyone's photos unless:
- They are about something I don't agree with
- Involve drugs, alcohol, swearing
- If my niece saw I liked this photo I wouldn't want her to click on it
Those are my rules. Otherwise, I do my best to like every single picture. Why? I will tell you why. If you have taken the time to take a picture, edit it, slap a filter on it, and share it with the internet then why wouldn't I like it? I like you so I like what you share (unless it contains the above stated) The reason I bring up this topic is because I have friends who have over 100 followers yet their pictures only get a few likes. "Liking" a picture takes less than a second. In fact it's done on accident all the time IT'S THAT EASY. So what is the issue? Why do people refuse to acknowledge and like their friends photos? Are you jealous because that person gets more likes than you so you feel the need to take away your like to prove a point? (THINK ABOUT HOW RIDICULOUS THAT SENTENCE IS) Do you feel superior to them and lowering yourself to actually acknowledging their photo is just too much for you? Or do you simply not like them as a person? If you don't like them, then I suggest you unfollow them. What is the point?
There is a girl who is friend's with my sister Christie and I think she's the coolest. She's one of those people that makes you want to be better. I follow her, she follows me. She likes every one of my photos. I know it's not because she actually enjoys them. She doesn't know half the people I take pictures of but by her liking it I know she likes me. It makes me feel good that someone who I find so fascinating is actually acknowledging my pictures! What if you are that to someone in your life? What if they think you are the coolest and just by liking their picture you make their day?
To wrap up this ridiculous unimportant rant not liking your friends photos is sending a message that you do not like your friend. Be happy for your friends who have something you don't. Compliment their talents and abilities. Be inspired to find out what you are good at and then share that in return. Let's all try to be better humans and encourage each other.
The end.
Disclaimer: I am not writing this so I get more attention on instagram. I am not that pathetic.I am trying to encourage (anyone who even reads this) to be nicer to people even on the internet.
